Coast and Company – a little gem in the midst of private housing estate in the Siglap area, is a refreshing break amidst the cafe scene in Singapore. Opened by the same people behind Loysel’s Toy, Chye Seng Huat Hardware, Papa Palheta started off as a solely coffee-roasting and wholesale business and to date, owns four cafes – three prior mentioned and one in Malaysia. It wasn’t the easiest cafe to spot, since we literally drove rounds before we realised it was there all along.
Here are some points from us:
Look out for bicycles and a minimalistic shopfront…
or an alley with some artistically overgrown green vines…
You are welcome!
While you are there, you can take some jumpshots or OOTD shots along this alley too.
Coast and Company is a joint establishment by Papa Palheta and Coast Cycles, which makes the “Workshop Cafe” at the shopfront make a lot more sense than when I just arrived. A cafe, bicycle workshop and bicycle shop all at one spot, convenient much?
Furnished with smoothened cement floors, walls and wood furnitures, the minimalist design gives it a really relaxing and therapeutic feel. We were there on a weekday afternoon and it was relatively quiet. A perfect spot for chilling and catching up with your books, or friends too of course.
Refreshing break from the usual hipster cafes, relaxing ambience, good exterior for OOTDs, it doesn’t stop there!
Albeit being bummed out by the lack of variety in the food menu had little variety, all was forgotten once our order came. The Coast Breakfast that we ordered was yummilicious!
Scrambled eggs were made to perfection, creamy to the right extent, soft and fluffy and so so addictive. Coupled with the brioche toast, savoury smoked salmon and juicy pork sausage, it was a great combination.
Even the cherry tomatoes and basil salad! I don’t know what kind of sorcery is this, but the salad was very zesty and really whets the appetite.
I know it’s just a standard breakfast dish which basically throws every possible item together, but hey, we really liked it.
Was a tad too sweet for me, but was a great cuppa overall.
This cup of Flat White sure lives up to the good name of Chye Seng Huat.
