Never been a fan of cupcakes. Probably cause we’ve never found one that was worth the calories.
We were greeted by rows and rows of beautiful cupcakes and assorted cakes. We thought, perhaps this could be where our faith in cupcakes will be restored.
We went ahead and ordered a couple of cupcakes (Salted Caramel and Earl Grey Lavender), a slice of flourless chocolate cake and a cup of coffee.
The cupcakes were so moist and rich in flavour. Eaten alone, the Salted Caramel topping might be a little too sweet, but coupled with the cupcake itself, the taste was impeccable. The Earl Grey Lavender was almost perfect. Not too sweet and the hint of Earl Grey is most ideal for your afternoon tea.
Update: 3 January 2016
Did you know that Plain Vanilla Bakery now serves breakfast?
We say it’s about time! We decided to go for their sandwiches this time round.
Prosciutto, provolone cheese, truffle butter on ciabatta (we requested to change the bread to brioche)
Mature cheddar, emmental, gruyere on brioche
Being the awesome bakers that they are, their bread is perfect! Soft and sweet at the same time. Coupled with your preference of filling, both the salty prosciutto & truffle, and the oozy oh-so-addictive stringy three-cheese were, great! Very filling in fact, given the amount of bread, perhaps it would be good for sharing instead. 🙂
Here’s the Grilled Sandwiches and salads menu!
The sandwiches were separate from their breakfast selection which includes Baked Eggs on Brioche and Breakfast Pastries (display).
We’ll leave that for next time…
